The Royal Horse Racing Club was created to be the controlling authority for horse racing in Oman in 2005.

In 2023 the name was changed to Oman Horse Racing Club (OHRC) and it was placed with the Oman Equestrian & Racing Federation under the control of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth.

OHRC is a member of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities and Asian Racing Federation and has issued regulations governing the conduct of racing in accord with relevant Articles of the International Agreement on Breeding, Racing, & Wagering.
